Teaching for the Future: Getting Climate-Ready
Teaching for the Future: Getting Climate-Ready is an online course which will introduce you to the 9 most reported climate change impacts and their possible mitigation measures. You will begin to learn how to engage your students in the topic of climate change and its effects on our environment and ourselves.
Our online modules have been designed as a stepping stone to developing your climate change educational practice and skills. Completing this online course, consisting of 11 online modules, will give you the knowledge, skills, and confidence you need to implement information about climate change and its mitigation actions into your practice.
Created by TEACHING GREEN INITIATIVE experts who understand the challenges everyone faces in relation to climate change and its impact on our environment, each module contains, in addition to general information on the chosen topic, activity suggestions for groups and individuals, interactive elements, carefully selected resources, research opportunities with an emphasis on citizen science and moments for self-reflection.
We know that local context is important, so each online module includes instructions on how you can specifically mitigate the impact of climate change in your area.
To get started with Teaching for the Future: Getting Climate-Ready:
- start with the introductory module, which introduces you to the online course itself and familiarizes you in general with the climate changes that are happening around us.
- Then choose one of the modules that you want to focus on.
- End the course with a final module that will help you promote your conclusions in front of your classmates at school, in front of local authorities, etc.
It takes about an hour to complete the 3 modules in online course itself, but the implementation of all activities together with your students can take several months. Take your time, try to learn as much as possible about the topic, use all the recommended sources of information and carry out all the suggested activities if possible.
